After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 45 and the subsequent chemotherapy, left mastectomy, and radiation, I (like so many other survivors,) felt called to help those facing breast cancer.
My TBCC journey began with a timely conversation in the waiting room of my surgeon with a TBCC Board Member. This led me to volunteer for TBCC's Golf Tournament in 2009. And the rest, as they say, is history.
I ultimately started organizing the volunteers for the golf tournament fundraiser. Then, I began using my professional Event Planning skills to assist with planning of our tournament. I continued to be moved and driven by the work of TBCC and then served on the Board of Directors for six years, three of those as President.
Now, (because I just wouldn't go away!), I work part-time as the Events and Logistics Director while assisting with social media, reports, and a variety of other duties.
I am very proud of the work we do at TBCC, and I know that each of us was drawn to this organization because of the tangible difference we make in the lives of others, like us, who may be struggling while facing breast cancer.
